Born on October 1, 1951, in Ludhiana, Punjab, Mr. Suri’s journey from a modest upbringing to becoming a pillar of the legal fraternity is nothing short of remarkable. A standout student and district badminton champion, he graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, before pursuing law. He joined the Bar in 1976 and founded Suri & Company in 1984. What began as a small practice soon grew into one of Delhi’s most reputable full-service law firms.
Mr. Suri’s career was marked by numerous accolades, including his appointment as Standing Counsel for Punjab during critical times and his designation as Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court in 2009. He held leadership roles, including President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and National Representative for India at the Union Internationale des Avocats.
Throughout his career, Mr. Suri remained deeply committed to pro bono work and mentored countless lawyers. Above all, he was a devoted family man, supported by his wife, Mrs. Gurvinder Suri, and followed by his daughters, Suruchi and Simar, who continue his legal legacy.

Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Suri held numerous prestigious positions:
- From 1978 to 2009, Mr. Suri led the firm as its Managing and Founding Partner, during which he also served as President of the Advocates-on-Record Association, Vice President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, and later, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
- In 2009, he was designated Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court of India, a prestigious title awarded to legal professionals recognized for their distinguished expertise and ability to handle complex legal matters.
- In 2020, Mr. Suri was appointed as the Additional Solicitor General of India, a position he held with distinction until his passing in 2022.
